TEDxLeicester Women Conference - Bold and Brilliant

After our sold-out TEDxLeicester: Fast Forward event in September this year, we are delighted to share that we are back again this December. TEDWomen is happening in the USA between 4-6 December 2019 and for the first time ever, TEDxLeicesterWomen will be part of a global series of events on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Gateway College, Leicester, LE5 1GA.

In light of this, we are proud to present a stellar line-up of both local and international speakers who will inspire our local community with their ideas and their work.

We invite you to join us to enjoy a day of inspiring talks that will inspire, provoke and create a sense of curiosity and wonderment. You will be able to immerse yourself in activities and performances produced by talented students from the college. It’s a full-day event; 9.00am- 4.00pm.

Dr Amber Ghaddar - Co-Founder AllianceBlock

Amber is an ex-investment banker turned entrepreneur. She is the co-founder of AllianceBlock, an award-winning start-up, aiming to simplify capital markets. AllianceBlock has constantly been ranked in the best early-stage Fintechs in Europe.

Chani Simms - Co-Founder MD. MetaDefence Labs

Chani is a multi-award-winning entrepreneur in cybersecurity. She advises organizations to manage information security and privacy requirements. Chani is also the founder of the SHe CISO Exec which provides boot-camps and mentoring platforms for women in cybersecurity.

Charlotte Carpenter - Composer and Founder of BabyWoman Records

Charlotte is an accomplished guitarist, songwriter, and owner of ‘BabyWoman’ Records to champion artists with day jobs and side hustles. She is passionate about giving a voice to artists who deserve to be heard.

Dr Ghida Ibrahim PhD – Advanced Network , Facebook

Ghida Ibrahim is a Global Citizen, a computer engineer, and data scientist, entrepreneur, AI educator, and democratizer. She is an active participant in the World Economic Forum and is contributing to the Quantum Computing agenda.

Dr Kierann Shah – General Manager National Space Academy

Kierann is a physicist and has been awarded a doctorate in nanotechnology. Kierann leads the education and skills development for the UK Space Sector. She is also a member of the Institute of Physics’ Outreach and Public Engagement Advisory Group

Dr Sharon Redrobe OBE - CEO of Twycross Zoo

Sharon is an award-winning vet and businesswoman now running one of the largest Ape conservation centres in the world, and combining her two career paths to save our closest cousins from extinction.

Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu - Political Activist

Shola is a renowned lawyer, Founder of Women in Leadership Publication; Political and Women's rights activist. Her areas of expertise include the financial services industry, publication, public speaking, and political commentator.

Shagufta Iqbal - Poet, Author, Filmmaker Storyteller

Shagufta is an award-winning writer, filmmaker, and workshop facilitator. Described by Gal Dem as a poet whose work ‘leaves you validated but aching – her narratives are important, heart-wrenching and relatable’.

Susan Oh - Founder & CEO of MKR AI, Co-Chair of Blockchain For Impact UN General Assembly

Susan is a multi-award-winning journalist, marketeer, and technologist working at the intersection of AI and blockchain on start-ups, non-profits, and NGOs around the world which serve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
